More good news...

Arthur Iontton has signed a professional deal with Stevenage FC.

The 17 year old signed with the club as an Under 11 and has since progressed right through the Academy system.

Iontton broke into the First Team towards the end of the 2018/19 season after catching the eye of Manager, Dino Maamria.

“He is the first player that impressed me from the youth team last season,” Maamria said. “I think he has done fantastically well. He has been at our training ground for a while now and there is a lot I like about him - nothing fazes him, he is technically sound and he is an extremely hard worker.”

Iontton becomes the latest Academy Product to graduate from the U18s as Stevenage FC continues to break new ground with its youth development.

“As a youth player at the club you are really encouraged by the recent stories of players breaking into the first team and earning professional contracts,” he said. “Seeing the likes of Ben Kennedy, Mark McKee, Ben Wilmot and Andronicos Georgiou play for the senior squad give you extra motivation to believe it is possible.

“I am absolutely delighted; it has always been my goal. I can’t wait to continue pushing myself and play a part in the upcoming season.”

Academy Manager Robbie O’Keefe said that his story is one many can use as inspiration.

“Arthur’s recent journey is a great lesson for all aspiring players of any age. 10 months ago he was sat in the physio room wondering when he would next kick a ball with a knee injury that was not healing and not responding to treatment.

“He was relentless in his approach to getting back fit and here he is now with a professional contract.”

Watch Iontton next in action tomorrow (Saturday 21st July) as Coventry City visit the Lamex Stadium in pre-season.
