Stevenage FC can confirm they have appointed Alex Tunbridge as CEO for next season...

The 31-year-old worked in a senior capacity at Boro for seven-and-a-half years before leaving for a position in the USA and more recently, as Chief Executive Officer of Newport County AFC.

Alex is moving back to be closer to friends and family whilst taking on the task of driving the club to profitability and creating a wider supporter base.

Chairman Phil Wallace said, "On Friday I said things needed to change off the pitch as well as on it.

"I admitted that we could have done a better job on fan engagement over the past couple of years, but something has to give when you are fighting to stay alive.

"Now that we have much better financial controls and a stable base, the time is right to start working on positives that improve fan engagement, profitability and value for money.

"Alex is a great candidate to do that – he came to us straight from University some years ago and I tried to act as a mentor to him whilst he was with us.

"He has moved on since then and developed new skills, doing an especially good job at Newport County AFC.

"I have no hesitation in putting him into this important position - he has the club in his heart and the energy and skill-set to drive us forwards.

"I won’t be going anywhere for a while so this is absolutely a strengthening of our team.’’
