19 March 2018

All 72 EFL Clubs will come together on the same day for the EFL’s Day of Action to demonstrate the positive impact football can have in changing people’s lives...

From Plymouth to Peterborough and Sunderland to Southend, on Tuesday 20th March EFL Clubs across all three divisions will showcase the innovative and ground breaking work they do in tackling some of the biggest issues in society across education, health, community inclusion and participation.

Here at Stevenage, working alongside the Foundation & Academy, we are planning a packed day of activities, education and fun for members of the local community.

Taking place at Shephalbury Academy between 1pm-3pm, we have a whole host of sessions running all in one place:

  • We are inviting some of our walking footballers to take part in a round-robin tournament.
  • Participants from the Stevenage Learning Disability Day Centre, Leydon House, will be invited to Shephalbury for a kick-about on the 3G pitches.
  • A group of students from Marriotts School will have their Aspire+ session conducted at the Academy, focusing on teamwork and leadership.
  • We will also be showcasing our Elite Development Programme (EDP), aimed at boys aged 16-18 who can continue their Academic attainment whilst representing Stevenage FC, delivered at various sites including Stevenage, Biggleswade and Cheshunt.

First Team players will be involved with all the sessions and local media will be invited to attend.

We hope to shine a spotlight on just some of the work that the football club, Foundation and Academy does in the community whilst offering a unique opportunity to those involved.
