The boss reacts to getting his man...

Dino Maamria says he is delighted to nail down his first permanent signing as Stevenage manager, by bringing in James Bell from Stockport.

A fine season for the 22 year old midfielder made Maamria and other managers take note, and the Stevenage boss says he has long been in his thoughts.

“I have been tracking him for a while. I had a phone call from the Chairman around December-time, asking who the best non-league players are at the time and I put James’ name forward straight away.

“Then the first opportunity I had, I wanted to make sure I brought James in so we got the ball rolling right away.

“He is a proper Stevenage player. Big, strong, box-to-box, can cover a lot of ground and can score goals from midfield.”

The rebuilding process under Maamria is now well underway after seven players left the club on Tuesday with more ins and outs expected over the coming months.

“It was a tough weekend. We had to make some difficult decisions on the players but it is time now to move forward and I am delighted to make James my first signing. He will be brilliant for the football club."
