Video & Quotes from the boss following Saturday's defeat...

  • On a terrific effort from his players...

"I thought we were brilliant to be fair. We have been talking about how we start our games and I thought we were a different class. We should have scored two or three in the first 10 minutes. We played with a front four and showed our intention, we set the tone early doors.

"Throughout the game we were by miles the better team. The chances created were consistently from my team today but we were not clinical, we had a lot of chances and we did not score. That is the only disappointing thing about today in terms of my team."

  • On the red card...

"To say I am fuming is an understatement. It was a ball over the top, Ben Nugent got tight to him and he almost slowed down so Nuge can bump into him.

"It is not a sending off in a million years and you have got to be sure to send someone off after 12 minutes.

"A sending off is for when he has a clear shot at goal. He actually lost control of the ball and not just that, he was not even the last man. We will go and appeal it, but it is what it is."

  • On playing with a one man advantage...

"The most important thing when down to ten men is to stay in the game, look to hit them on the counter and be clinical from set plays.

"We could not really press them from the front in the way we want because they had the extra man and that would hurt us. We also did not want our legs to wear out.

"We wanted to finish the game strongly, stay in the game and win it in the last 15 minutes. We got on the front foot and in the dressing room I was pleased with everybody because even with ten men we worked very hard to get back in the game.

"We created so many chances late on as well, in the 90th, 93rd minute to get that equaliser, but it did not happen."
