Ahead of Stevenage’s return home to The Lamex Stadium, we caught up with Journalist Mark Dunford, of the Crawley and Horley Observer to talk all things Red Devils...
- With the announcement of the new Head Coach this week, what do you know about John Yems?
"John Yems is a familiar name at Crawley Town, having helped the club avoid relegation from the National League while in charge in 2007-08. He recently worked under Eddie Howe at Bournemouth and he is well respected locally and lives in Crawley. He knows the Club well and from what we understand, he has always been in touch with the Club and knows the squad well."
- What do you think the expectation will be under Yems for the rest of the season?
"Improvement. Crawley had a great start to the season but have only won two of their last 12 league games and are now 17th. The owner will be looking for above mid-table finish. Crawley have been playing some great football but have struggled turning that into wins. Yems will be expected to reinstall some confidence in the players and pick up points quickly. He has only been given a contract until April 2020, if he impresses it will be extended."
What can the Boro fans expect from Crawley on Saturday?
"A very talented squad and good passing football. David Sesay and Lewis Young are attacking wing backs and get in good positions, but they need that end product. Ollie Palmer can be destructive on his day up top and Boro will be up against arguably the best goalkeeper in the League in Glenn Morris."
- Score prediction and goalscorers?
"2-1 Crawley - new manager bounce will result in a big three points for the Reds. Ollie Palmer and Bez Lubala to score."
