Dino Maamria says that he is battling to get a team out on Saturday as a whole host of players look set to miss out on the trip to Morecambe...

Despite the busy physio room, the boss says that the group have had a positive week off the back of a win against Crawley.

“It has been a good week. Off the back of a win it is always better week, you can do a lot of improvement because you find the players are more receptive to learning.

“Last week was a difficult game, we had three key players come off injured so to recover from that and win the game was fantastic for the group.

“We have got about 17 players fit in the squad altogether. Alex Revell is touch and go with his calf last week. Danny Newton touch and go. Ben Kennedy touch and go. Scott Cuthbert touch and go. Joel Byrom just trained today, we will see how he reacts to it tomorrow. We have got a few knocks and bruises so I am hoping that a few of them pull through. If not, we will play who we have to play.”

To say that Stevenage’s recent form has been Jekyll and Hyde would be fair. In the last six games the clubs record reads as LWLWLW and Maamria knows that his side needs to begin putting together some back-to-back results, with improving form away from home a particular concern.

“If we are going to achieve anything this season, we need to go on a little winning run and I think we are due one.

“If we can improve that, we can go on this season and achieve something special. We are conscious of that we have to do better away from home and we are looking at all kinds of things. We are looking at our mindset going into games, we are looking at our preparation and we are going to do that different tomorrow. We are trying things differently to see if we can find that winning formula away from home.

“It hasn’t been disastrous, we just need to be a little bit better. We have had difficult games on the road but this week, at least we have had seven days between the games. It gives us a chance to re-group and prepare properly for the game.”
