Alex Revell & Ronnie Henry appointed Academy Roles

5 July 2019

Stevenage Football Club has taken a bold and progressive step to improve their hugely successful Academy by announcing the appointments of Alex Revell and Ronnie Henry into key coaching positions...

Alex Revell, who announced his retirement after 18 years and over 500 games as a playing professional yesterday, joins the Academy as Lead Professional Development Coach, responsible for coaching and leading the Under 18s. Alex has recently secured his A license and the Club are delighted to have him leading the development of their young scholars, alongside Robbie O’Keefe and Stephen Payne.

Ronnie Henry, who called time on his Stevenage playing career this Summer as the Club’s record appearance holder, joins the Academy as Youth Development Phase Coach and will assist with the coaching of both the Under 18s and the Under 13s-Under 16s age groups.

Chairman Phil Wallace said, "This is another exciting chapter in our progress. In the past year we have sold two players to Premier League clubs and brought one into the First Team on a regular basis and that is only the beginning, as we have several more lads that we have high hopes for.

"It is crucial that these players get an insight into professional football at an early stage and Alex and Ronnie, with over 1,000 games between them, are perfectly placed to deliver that message."

The Club is thrilled that both Alex and Ronnie have decided to remain a part of Stevenage Football Club, as their professionalism and dedication to the game will set a superb example to the young footballers that will play under them.
