Stevenage Football Club is pleased to confirm the appointments of David Oldfield and Mark Sampson as First Team Coaches...
The two experienced Coaches officially started their employment yesterday (Weds 3rd July) and took their places on the plane to Jersey, where they will spend four days with the squad for a Pre-Season Training Camp.
Manager Dino Maamria selected the Management Team additions with the emphasis on coaching ability and individual improvement of players.
David Oldfield has a wealth of coaching experience and was offered a contract after forming a successful partnership with Manager Dino Maamria towards the back-end of last season.
Mark Sampson was most recently the England Women Head Coach for almost 4 years where he took the Lionesses to the World Cup Semi-Final in 2015.
Manager Dino Mammria said, "We are fully aware of Mark’s past issues with the FA. I have known Mark for a long-time and we have discussed what happened at length. I am convinced of his character and skillset. He will be a big asset to the Club moving forward.
"David of course needs no introduction to our fans. His experience as a successful Assistant Manager at this level and his outstanding coaching credentials are a big part of the reason why he has been brought into the Management Team.”
The Club wishes both Mark and David a warm welcome to the team.
