Scott Cuthbert praised his teammates following a third straight strong performance within the past seven days...

Although he admits there is obvious disappointment from not taking home all three points, Cuthbert was quick to accentuate the positives after Saturday' 1-1 draw at MK Dons.

“It is frustrating. Disappointing to concede quite late on after what I felt was a really, really good away performance. To come to a place like MK Dons where they control possession, control the game, a tough place to come and in good form, I thought we did really well.

“Let’s not be too negative. In my opinion it has been a fantastic week in terms of performances. We are disappointed that we haven’t got as many points as we feel like we deserve but everyone in there is looking at it as a real positive week.”

After Ilias Chair’s fourth goal for the club put Stevenage ahead in stunning style once again, Cuthbert says that he felt the team were in control.

“We had a game plan coming here. We know the way we play, they like to build up from the back and don’t like to kick it long too much so our aim was to frustrate them and to try and steal a goal.  When you have players like Ilias who can create things from nothing, and it is a fantastic strike, it gives you something to cling onto.

“To be honest, although Farms has pulled off an unbelievable (in the second half), it was different class and one of the best saves I have seen, I didn’t really feel under pressure too much and that is why we are disappointed with the goal. As much as they had the possession second half, we felt fairly comfortable and in control.”

The result leaves Stevenage five points out from the Play-Off places and Cuthbert says he and his teammates haven’t stopped fighting for an extended season.

“We are on the right track. We feel like in the last week things have come together and we are really performing well, especially against the better teams. The next two games are against teams in that relegation fight so we have got to reproduce those performances against those teams because they are going to be very, very difficult.

“We are massively, massively confident that we can really push in these last eight games and pick up a lot of points. There is a lot of football to be played and if we can keep on putting performances in, results will come. We just have to make sure we keep working hard and the results will come. We are in it and there is always going to be some team that makes that late charge and we want it to be us.”
