  • Onto the game…

After an end-to-end encounter nine days ago, another 90 minutes will be needed to separate the two teams and decide who plays Dover Athletic in the Second Round.

Elliott List’s second half opener was cancelled out by Marcus Maddison’s strike with ten minutes to go, and forced a midweek trip to The Weston Homes Stadium for Mark Sampson’s Stevenage.

Both teams were forced to endure a Saturday without football at the weekend, with international call-ups postponing Boro’s tie with Oldham Athletic, and Bury’s expulsion from the EFL meaning no game for Posh.

Since the start of last month, Stevenage have gone four games without defeat in all competitions, with only one loss in the last eight. On the other hand, Peterborough United had lost their last two games before their trip to The Lamex Stadium, however they still sit in fourth in the League One play-off places.

A midweek victory over rivals Cambridge United in the Leasing.com Trophy on Tuesday will have boosted morale inside the dressing room, and halted a mini-dip in form.

Tomorrow’s clash with Peterborough does not come without injury worries for Mark Sampson, with Kurtis Guthrie, Dean Parrett, Kelland Watts and Luther James-Widlin all set to miss out.

  • Previous meetings…

Last Saturday was Stevenage’s first competitive encounter with Peterborough United in over five years. A 1-0 home defeat in February 2014 thanks to Nicky Ajose’s winner put Stevenage nine points adrift at the bottom of League One.

The same season however, Stevenage recorded their first and only win over Posh in the reverse fixture, with Lucas Akins bagging the only goal of the game.

That game will be remembered by the win of course, but some will remember it by a moment of magic from Francois Zoko.

After collecting the ball on the halfway line, the Ivorian double-rouletted his way past Gabriel Zakuani before powering past Tommy Rowe, and then fluffing the pass after all his hard work.
