Craig Mackail Smith has said that Manager Graham Westley has given him a new lease of life at the Club and was the main reason for extending his loan agreement until the end of the season…
After struggling to get into the team under previous bosses, Mackail Smith has been a regular starter under Westley which has coincided with his best performances for the Club.
“It has been great really. Obviously the first three or four months were difficult, we had a few different Managers and they all have their own ideas of what they want to do. I always said that I am fit and if you play me in games you will get your rewards in me.
“The Gaffer now has put his trust in me the last three or four weeks and I think the performances I have put in have shown what I am capable of. It is nice to extend and hopefully I can carry on my run of form I have been having, whilst helping the team pick up some wins.”
With his immediate future now put to rest, Mackail Smith will no doubt play a big part in the Club’s end of season run and fight for League Two survival.
“It is going to be battle for the next three or four months and hopefully I can help the team turn results around and get us moving in the right direction. I feel like the performances aren’t too bad but it’s just creating and scoring goals where we need to improve. Hopefully I can continue to help the team in that department.
“Defensively we have been really good but we need to be a bit more ruthless in our thinking. If we can take chances and score goals in games, we will soon get moving upwards I am sure.”
