Loan Report: Reid nets twice on Daggers debut

27 January 2020

Catch-up with our eight players out on loan…

After joining the East London side on loan ten days ago, Alex Reid made his mark on his debut for National League Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.

Two second half goals against play-off hopefuls Notts County earned the Daggers a valuable three points, which takes them two points clear of the relegation zone. On the hour mark, Alex Reid was in the right place at the right time to be on hand and tap in a low Sam Deering corner from six yards. With ten minutes to go, Reid doubled his tally with another tap in to put the game beyond doubt.

In the National League South, Braintree Town duo Jack Smith and Liam Smyth were unable to build on last week’s victory away at Oxford City. Returning back to the home comforts of Cressing Road, The Iron fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of promotion chasing Slough Town. Liam Smyth played 85 minutes up top, while Jack Smith completed the 90 in midfield.

In the same division, Jamie Fielding was able to shake off the injury he picked up last weekend, to start in St Albans City’s 2-1 defeat away at Hampton & Richmond Borough.

A level below in the Isthmian Premier Division, recently pro signed Jamie Jellis made his debut for North London side Wingate & Finchley at home to Brightlingsea Regent. Jellis started for The Blues, before being substituted in the 68th minute as the game went on to finish 0-0.

From North to South, Joel Rollinson and Cray Wanderers continued their good form and promotion bid with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Enfield Town’s Queen Elizabeth II Stadium.

In the Southern Football League Premier Central and South respectively, both Harry Draper of Hitchin Town and Andronicos Georgiou of Hendon missed out through injury.
