Stevenage duo Liam Smyth and Jack Smith have enjoyed their brief spell at National League South side Braintree Town since signing on loan just over a week ago, with both starting the last two games at home to Tonbridge Angels and away at Oxford City.

After a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to The Angels, The Iron more than made up for it with a 4-1 away win in Oxfordshire. This was Braintree Town’s first win in eleven games, as the two loanees hope to be the difference as the season goes on.

Liam Smyth got on the scoresheet to make it 3-0 just after the hour mark, coolly tapping in from close range to notch his first goal in senior football.

Jamie Fielding’s loan at St Albans City was extended last week, as well his run of starts in City’s starting eleven. The relegation threatened side picked up an important three points in their bid for survival, with a 1-0 win over play-off hopefuls Maidstone United. It was bittersweet for Fielding on Saturday however, after an early injury for the young defender meant his game was cut short after just 14 minutes.

In the Isthmian League Premier Division, Cray Wanderers’ victory over Lewes earned the Wands bragging rights for the oldest football club in London. Joel Rollinson was introduced with fifteen minutes to go, to confirm a valuable three points and move up to fifth place. Ex-Boro midfielder Bradley Pritchard also played a part in the derby win.

Andronicos Georgiou was introduced for Hendon FC with twenty minutes left to play in their 2-1 win over Gosport Borough in the Southern League Premier Division South. Lee Allinson’s side picked up a vital three points, as they moved up to 16th and ten points clear of the drop zone.

Dagenham & Redbridge’s new striker Alex Reid will have to wait another week to make his debut for the Daggers, as their game away at Barnet was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.

Harry Draper remains injured while on loan at Hitchin Town.
