Stevenage FC, Show Racism the Red Card & Herts Police Unite to Tackle Hate Crime

9 January 2020

Show Racism the Red Card and Herts Police will host a joint-stand in the East-North Corner of The Lamex Stadium on Saturday in an effort to help further educate supporters and raise awareness regarding hate crime...

Stevenage Football Club prides itself on delivering a positive matchday experience for all supporters, and promotes an equal opportunities environment irrespective of people’s faith, gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation or disability.

PC Dee Marr, Hate Crime Officer for Stevenage and North Herts, said, “We are really pleased to be working together with Stevenage Football Club as we continue to eliminate hate crime not only in sport, but from our communities.

“We want people to enjoy watching football and visit our town knowing that it is a safe and friendly environment, where hate crime in all its forms – race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or transgender identity – is not tolerated.”

She added: “On the rare occasion something does happen, you should be reassured that Stevenage FC and Hertfordshire Constabulary will work together to ensure you’re supported and positive action is taken. Everyone, from the playing staff to police, stands united against hate crime.”

Supporters are encouraged to visit the stand and speak with the representatives from both Show Racism the Red Card and Herts Police to find out more about the importance of the message.

Supporters can anonymously message the Matchday Control Room direct on 07565942294 to report any signs of abuse, anti-social behaviour, foul/abusive language or discrimination within the stadium.

Alternatively, you can report anonymously to the police directly by visiting www.hertsagainsthate.org/.
