Community Careline Sandwich Service hits 10,000 landmark

11 June 2020

Stevenage Football Club and Stevenage FC Foundation’s Community Careline Sandwich Service delivered its 10,000th sandwich on Thursday...

The lucky recipient, Del Ingle, was awarded with a brand-new Stevenage FC Away Shirt – on sale this Saturday from stevenagefcshop.com – in addition to a VIP Hospitality Package for when football resumes and supporters are allowed back into The Lamex Stadium.

142 local residents receive a minimum of a free sandwich every day between Monday to Friday, as a way of helping them have one less thing in their day to worry about, as well as the opportunity to have a face-to-face conversation with one of the Club’s volunteers.

If you or somebody you know might be interested in joining onto the service, call 01438 222 222 (option 3) and speak to our team.

Take a look at the latest statistics from the service via the infographic below:

Ever since COVID-19 closed down the Club’s main order of business, the Club and Foundation has transformed itself into a Community Careline, to help those most affected by the pandemic.

In addition to the incredible work undertaken by the Sandwich team, the Careline’s Community Errands service has delivered almost 300 prescriptions, in addition to helping with other odd-jobs for those in-need, whilst the Club’s Health & Wellbeing specialist has made over 350 phone calls to vulnerable adults, lending a friendly ear to those in self-isolation.

The Club would like to offer its sincerest thanks to all the volunteers and staff, as well as the local business that have helped provide food and services, as without them, it wouldn’t have been possible.
