Alex Revell has welcomed a week without a midweek game, allowing him, his staff and the squad to get in a full week of training ahead of Saturday’s match at Morecambe…
“The games have obviously been relentless so it is nice to spend some more time training and working on the grass,” Revell said. “The lads have worked hard getting ready for what is a tough game away. It is always a tough place to go, we know that and we have to be ready for that. It has been nice to get them in and have a normal week together.”
Stevenage visit the Mazuma Stadium in search of a league win to follow on from last Saturday’s FA Cup success but has no doubt about the challenge posed by the Shrimps.
“They are a counter-attacking side and they like to soak up the pressure and get after you and it has worked well for them this year. They have signed experienced players, they are well organised and obviously they have had a real good start to the season so we know it is going to be tough and we know we have to go out there and put in a top performance to go and get something, so that is what we have been working on all week and the players will be ready to go there and do that.”
Tom Pett’s return to the Club has given the squad a boost and Revell praised the player for his already-impressive impact.
“He is a very positive person. I think the player that left here is very different to the player that came back. He has got a voice which is great because we need that and his performance on Saturday was exceptional to his character and fitness. He has had a couple of days where he has had to recover because it was a big ask for him but it shows great character which is why we wanted him in.
“It is great to have him in because he adds real quality to us and on Saturday he showed that, which is all you can ask. He will be ready for Saturday which is great to have him for the league now.”
