A Brief History: Forest Green Rovers

15 October 2020

Stevenage have played Forest Green Rovers 33 times, the third most against any team in the club's history...

Only Morecambe (41 games) and Woking (40) have faced Boro on more occasions, with the very first games between the two sides coming back in the 1998/99 season, which was the first of 13 consecutive seasons of clashes as both team's battled it out in the fifth tier of English football.

Stevenage were the dominant force during the non-league days, with Boro winning just shy of 50% of games (13/27) between 1998 and 2010.

Since then, it has been a different story though, as once Forest Green joined Stevenage in the EFL, Boro are yet to record a victory, with three draws (all 0-0) and three defeats since 2017.

In total, Boro have won 13, drawn 13 and lost seven games against Rovers.

Stevenage's last victory over FGR came in May 2010, as goals from Joel Byrom and Scott Laird secured a 2-0 victory to further cement Graham Westley's side at the top of the Blue Square Premier table.

With Boro's last two games away in Nailsworth ending in goalless draws, Alex Revell's side will be hoping to go one better this time around and put an end to the home side's recent dominance in fixtures between the teams.
