Ahead of this Saturday's home game against Leyton Orient, we spoke to Jacob Ranson of Archant London to discuss all things O's...
- First of all, what were your hopes and expectations for Leyton Orient this season?
"Personally, I felt like a strong mid-table finish to improve on a turbulent campaign off the pitch last term would be the main aim, and I believe that is still the aim. Most Orient fans however were dreaming of play-offs especially after the start to the season in the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy especially."
- How would you assess the club’s start to the season and how are the fans feeling?
"It has been a very mixed start with a divide between the fans on how Orient have started the season. Overall it has been a reasonable start, although the wheels started to fall off, following the two-week Covid-19 isolation period the club had to undertake. They finally bounced back against Tranmere Rovers in mid-week with probably one of their most complete performances yet this campaign."
- What was Orient's summer transfer window like?
"The O’s haven’t done too much business, one permanent signing in midfielder Ouss Cisse, who was on loan at the club from Gillingham last season. Head coach Ross Embleton has brought in right-back Jordan Thomas on loan from Norwich and Tunji Akinola on loan from West Ham to bolster the defensive options."
- Who is the one Orient player to watch out for?
"It has to be the in-form man Danny Johnson. The 27-year-old striker has netted eight goals in all competitions so far this season and is the main goal threat."
- What is your score prediction for the game?
"My score prediction for the game is 3-1 to Orient, Johnson and Ruel Sotiriou being two of the goal scorers in the match."
