Osborne: "Buzzing to get off the mark"

21 September 2020

Elliot Osborne's goal and assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over Oldham Athletic saw the midfielder pick up the first iFollow Man of the Match award of the 2020/21 season...

After a difficult first half, Osborne cited the team's fitness as the key to breaking the game open in the second as Stevenage upped the intensity and put the Latics to the sword.

"It was a frustrating first half for us, both teams had chances but in the second half our fitness showed, we took over the game and it could’ve been four or five in the end. We are all buzzing to get this result knowing it is the first time in a while we have got a good result at home, backing up that away performance from last week."

"All the work we done during pre-season showed and credit to the gaffer for that as well as the staff and players who have put in a lot of work which showed during the second half last week and this week. The legs will carry, especially in the second half of the season but when other teams get tired, we will push on and do really well."

Osborne's goal got things rolling for Alex Revell's side and was his first in the EFL following his move from Stockport County in the Summer. "It was something that we hae worked on in training, getting three players down the right hand side then into the box and that is what I will do - get into the box late and score goals. The service was great from List and I am buzzing to get off the mark in League Two."
