Stevenage Football Club is delighted to announce that Academy players Sam Dreyer, Timmy Smith & Alfie Williams have signed professional contracts with the Club...
The trio of 17-year-olds have impressed at both Under 18 and Under 23 level this season, with Sam Dreyer & Timmy Smith being at the Club since Under 9 level and Alfie Williams joining at Under 12s.
Academy Manager Robbie O'Keefe gives a brief insight to each of the players:
"Defender Sam Dreyer followed a very similar path to Ben Wilmot in that he was a central midfielder that we quickly saw had better attributes as a centre half. He's been a centre half since Under 14s, and has made the transition there really well. Captain of the Scholars this season, he has lead by example. He has been outstanding in Under 23 games, trained with the First Team and made some really good impressions up there.
"Timmy Smith has come through our College Programme, came in and trained everyday with the Scholars and then had an opportunity to train with the First Team. He's now a 6"3' goalkeeper, brave as a lion and has taken the opportunity that presented itself and grabbed it with both hands. He's the first College graduate to sign a professional contract with us."
"Midfielder Alfie Williams has been with us since he was released by Tottenham at Under 12s. He is an offensive, flair type player and has been getting more and more consistent in his performances while adding to his individual attributes. He is another one who has really blossomed from the Under 23 programme we have put in place this season. He has put in a number of standout performances that have convinced everyone that he is worthy of a professional contract."
The Club would like to congratulate each young man on reaching this important milestone in their career.
