Upcoming Fixtures: The Run-In

8 April 2021

With just six games left to play in Sky Bet League Two, we take a look at our upcoming opponents over the next few weeks...

Alex Revell's men currently sit comfortably mid-table in 13th place on 53 points after 40 games, with a positive goal difference of plus one. Seven points from the play-off places and seventeen clear of the drop zone, we take a look at what the rest of the season has in store for Stevenage.

  • Salford City (A) - Saturday 10th April, 3pm

Promotion favourites at the beginning of the season, the Red Devils are now on their third manager of the season in Gary Bowyer, aiming for a late play-off push in the latter months of the campaign. Salford picked up their first win in seven with a 2-0 away win at fellow play-off contenders Forest Green, with two goals from Club top scorer Ian Henderson. Earlier in the season Boro fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to then manager Graham Alexander's side, but fortunes have since changed as now only two points seperate the sides.

  • Mansfield Town (H) - Saturday 17th April, 3pm

Tipped for the play-offs after a transfer splash in the summer, The Stags have once again found themselves floundering in the bottom half for the majority of the campaign. Danger man jordan Bowery has proved a successful signing since joining from MK Dons in June, with ten league goals to his name already. With no win in seven, Nigel Clough will be hopeful to reach the 50 point mark before the the season draws to a close.

  • Cheltenham Town (H) - Tuesday 20th April, 7pm

Michael Duff's side have enjoyed the 2020/21 season so far, currently sitting second in the automatic promotion places with a game in hand to go top. After last season's play-off catastrophe, The Robins will be hoping to avoid the same outcome and earn promotion by a more traditonal sense this time around. Some consider Boro's 1-1 draw at Whaddon Road on Boxing Day the catalyst of change in the season's turnaround for Alex Revell's men, and will hope for an even better result in the midweek fixture.

  • Cambridge United (A) - Saturday 24th April, 3pm

Arguably the toughest tie in the run-in, Stevenage face the top of the league U's in the antipenultimate game of the season. Boro will be hoping to spoil possible promotion celebrations for Mark Bonner's men, and have a decent record in recent meetings going into the game. A repeat of last season's result would not go a miss for Boro fans, after the surprise 4-0 thumping by Graham Westley's side over a year ago.

  • Crawley Town (H) - Saturday 1st May, 3pm

John Yems' Crawley Town visit The Lamex Stadium for the last hurrah at home this season, with the two teams currently seperated by one point in the table. Elliot Osborne's last minute stunner won the game for Stevenage earlier in the season, before David Stockdale's even later penalty heroics saved any red faces at full-time. The Red Devils are currently without a win in six, but by all means are content with their performances earlier this season.

  • Scunthorpe United (A) - Saturday 8th April, 3pm

Finally, Alex Revell's men make the trip North to Lincolnshire for the final outing of the 2021/22 Sky Bet League Two season. January's home win over The Iron was an important one as it resulted in Stevenage moving out of the relegation zone, and have not looked back since. Boro have never won at Glanford Park, and three points on the last day out would sure the get the end of season celebrations started.

All six of Stevenage's final games are available to watch live from the comfort of your own home, with the purchase of an iFollow Match Pass for each fixture. Season Ticket Holders don't have to pay anything to watch the game, whilst non-Season Ticket Holders can buy an iFollow Video Match Pass, available now for just £10.
