Match Preview: Stevenage vs Exeter City

2 February 2021

Stevenage return to league action at The Lamex Stadium on Tuesday evening, hosting Matt Taylor's Exeter City....

Last time out, Alex Revell's men left it late to beat Paul Hurst's Grimsby Town 2-1 at Blundell Park in dramatic fashion. Elliott List gave Boro the lead on 42 minutes with a cool finish from inside the area, before a 93rd minute equaliser from Stefan Payne looked to rescue a point for the hosts. Eight seconds after the restart, Matty Stevens grabbed his first Boro goal to claim all three points.

This result made it three wins in six league games for Stevenage, with boss Alex Revell stating after the game, ''Ultimately today was about winning, we knew that. It was a massive game so it was great to come here and win because we deserved it.''

Matt Taylor's side travel to The Lamex Stadium off the back of consecutive defeats, losing 1-0 at Carlisle on Saturday courtesy of an early goal from Lewis Alessandra. Exeter have lost two on the bounce since beating Boro 3-1 at St James Park in the return fixture last month.

The Grecians last away win came in a 4-1 win against Grimsby Town in December with Ryan Bowman, Randell Williams (2) and Matt Jay all on the scoresheet. Boro's last victory against Tuesday's opponents came in a 3-1 home win in 2018, with none other than now manager Alex Revell bagging a hat-trick.

Alex Revell will look to field a strong side in an attempt to continue his team's good run of form with midfielder Chris Lines edging closer to a return. Scott Cuthbert is once again a doubt after sustaining his injury from last week.
