First Team returns all negative COVID-19 tests

5 January 2021

In-order to try and curb the transmission of the virus amongst its member clubs, the EFL have mandated that all teams are to be tested this week, the full results of which will be announced by the governing body in due course...

Stevenage Football Club can confirm that following Monday’s COVID-19 tests on all First Team players and staff, all results returned negative.

Chairman Phil Wallace said, “I am delighted with zero positives and, frankly, amazed given the high incidence rates prevailing in the community.

"This is either testament to the strict protocols we have in place every minute of every day that the lads and staff are with us, or a strange abnormality. If it is the former, then the case for continuing to play games at elite level seems strong.

"However, it may of course be the case that other clubs have completely different outcomes to us, so only once the all-club data is back and looked at will a strong pointer be able to be taken."
