Stevenage Football Club has agreed terms with Mansfield Town for the transfer of striker Jamie Reid…
Reid scored seven goals last season at the One Call Stadium. The 25-year-old made the move to the Stags from Torquay United in June 2020, after enjoying three prolific seasons scoring 78 goals in 144 appearances in the National League.
His remarkable goalscoring record earned him a move back into the Football League last summer, however a change of manager and a challenging season for Mansfield hindered the forward’s opportunities.
“I am delighted to get this done”, Jamie Reid said upon signing. “I had a chance to come here last season but for whatever reason I went in another direction. I now cannot wait to get started.”
“The Gaffer is passionate about what he wants, and I was impressed when I visited the training ground and he showed me how the squad are playing. I feel like I can be a part of that.”
Manager Alex Revell added, “Jamie is a player that we have had a strong interest in for over a year now and we are delighted to finally welcome him to the football club.”
“His power and pace mixed with his movement and goals not only make him a constant threat, but he fits into our player profile. He has a fantastic appetite to want to improve and to score goals. We are all excited to work with him to develop him into the player we believe he can become.”
“It is important that we grow as a group and move forward working together to achieve the success we all crave. Jamie is a fantastic addition to this talented group, and the players will welcome him into our family to help get him ready for the challenge ahead.”
Jamie Reid becomes Alex Revell’s seventh new signing of the summer and strengthens the squad’s attacking options. Reid joins up with the team at Bragbury End this week for pre-season, with supporters able to get a first glance of the new signing against Crystal Palace next week.
