Fletcher becomes first ever development centre graduate to sign for Stevenage FC Women...

Stevenage FC Foundation is delighted to announce Poppy Fletcher as the first ever graduate of the Girls Development Centre to sign for Stevenage FC Women. Poppy joined the Girls Development Centre as an under 13 and has been training and representing Stevenage FC Womens in fixtures ever since.

Poppy is a Stevenage local who attends The John Henry Newman School, and this is where her first involvement with Stevenage FC Foundation arose. Historically, Poppy has been involved with the Premier League Girls programme and through competitions such as the EFL Girls Cup and EFL Futsal Cup, Poppy has been part of the John Henry Newman team who have represented Stevenage FC in national finals.

Poppy said upon signing, ‘I am really pleased to have been selected for the Stevenage FCW u23 squad for the forthcoming season. I want to thank all of the coaches who have helped me to develop during my time with the girls development centre and I’m excited for the season ahead.’

The Girls Development Centre at Stevenage FC was formed for the 2018/19 season with just 20 girls to its name, one of those being Poppy. It now runs with 5 age groups and a specific Goalkeeper session and contains over 85 players.
