We take a look at some of the players who have represented both Stevenage and Mansfield Town ahead of the Sky Bet League Two clash this Saturday at The Lamex Stadium…

Joel Byrom had an illustrious career at Stevenage, being heavily involved in the back-to-back promotions from The Conference to League One. Despite being sent off on his Boro debut, the midfielder appeared 48 times in his first season, scoring five goals. The following season, Byrom suffered a number of injuries but, towards the end of the campaign, he scored a vital goal in the League Two play-off semi-finals. In December 2016, Byrom signed for Mansfield Town before making 55 appearances for the club and scoring one goal. Then, in June 2018, Byrom made his return to Stevenage, scoring on his second debut and making over fifty appearances.

Chris Beardsley came through the Mansfield academy and made his first-team debut for The Stags as an eighteen-year-old. Overall, he had three separate spells at the club, making a total of over fifty appearances. In between these spells he signed for Stevenage in 2009 and spent three years at the club. Like Joel Byrom, Beardsley played an important role in the back-to-back promotions, scoring the winner in the second leg of the League Two play-off semi-finals. In 2014, he returned for a second spell at The Lamex, making thirty-two appearances and scoring four goals.

In the summer of 2013, Graham Westley signed midfielder Simon Heslop. He was a regular member of the 2013/14 squad and scored his only goal for the club in a Sky Bet League One defeat to Gillingham. Heslop spent the following season at The Stags, appearing twenty-five times.

Jersey-born Peter Vincenti signed for Stevenage in January 2008 and spent a total of three years at the club. He appeared over fifty times and managed to net seven goals during his time at Boro. In 2010, he went out on loan to Mansfield Town but only appeared three times for The Stags.

Current Stevenage FC striker Jamie Reid signed from Mansfield in the summer of 2021 after making over thirty appearances for The Stags, scoring seven goals. Since being a part of Alex Revell’s squad, he has scored three goals.
