Officials: Backhouse appointed for Tranmere fixture

26 November 2021

Anthony Backhouse has been appointed Match Referee for Stevenage’s trip to Merseyside for a Sky Bet League Two clash with Tranmere Rovers…

The referee has been in the EFL since the 2017/18 campaign, a season in which he dished out two red cards in a fixture between Stevenage and Lincoln City. So far this season, he has taken charge of seventeen games, handing out sixty-four yellow cards in the process. His red card is yet to be shown so far. Last season, Backhouse ended his card tally on 110, including three reds.

His most recent Stevenage fixture was in January of this year as Stevenage travelled to Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League Two. Boro won 2-1 that day thanks to an Elliott List opener and a last-second Matt Stevens winner. Two yellow cards were handed out, one for each side.

Backhouse will be joined by Assistants Ollie Williams and Gary Hilton with Peter Gooch as Fourth Official.
