Earlier this year Manager Dave Challinor, who celebrates his birthday this Saturday, took Hartlepool to the National League Play-Off Final after a superb campaign. An enthralling penalty shootout at Wembley against Torquay United saw Hartlepool gain promotion back to the Football League.
Their first season in League Two for four years has given the fans plenty to be excited about, winning four out of five home games. Despite possessing the best home record in the league so far, their away form is quite the opposite. Dave Challinor’s side have picked up just one point out of a possible twelve on the road, as Stevenage will hope this form continues with Hartlepool looking for their first away win of the season.
When assessing the two clubs’ history against one another, it is the Boro fans who should be optimistic. Stevenage have won eight out of eleven previous contests with the two sides drawing twice. The last time the two clubs battled it out, Pools picked up their first ever victory against Boro in the 2016/17 season, the same campaign which saw Hartlepool suffer relegation to the National League.
