Phil Wallace's Chairman Notes: Swindon Town

Ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League Two fixture against Swindon Town, Phil Wallace addresses Stevenage supporters in the Digital Matchday Programme...

Good afternoon and welcome to the players and officials of Swindon Town.

Our season has started okay but we are in an improving and learning phase, so the last few games have not produced the results we would have liked. We were unlucky not to have seen off Wycombe in 90 minutes with a spectacular performance, so to lose on penalties after being by far the better team was a blow. We then put in a subpar performance at Walsall, and it is this inconsistency that we have to remove from our game.

A league is won over 46 games, and you cannot afford to be outstanding then poor in the space of two games. However, our squad is hand-picked. Every single lad has a part to play, and we are delighted with the blend of youth and experience we have put together.

Adding Bruno Andrade and Max Melbourne late in this window has strengthened us even more, whilst now having players back from injury or sickness has also been a plus for us this week.

So, we are ready to go! Some of the football played this season has been simply outstanding and worth every penny of the entrance fee. That is what we want to give you - we want you on the edge of your seat. We want you coming back for more. We may not win every game, but we are determined to play fast and relentlessly push for a top three place.

It is great to have you back. The new North Stand, when filled, makes the stadium look and feel so much better than it has ever done before. So, make your noise and let’s see what we can achieve together!

Enjoy the game!

- Phil Wallace
