Stevenage Football Club is pleased to confirm the appointment of Supporter Liaison Officer Carl Rutherford…
Carl has been in post since pre-season and acts as the bridge between supporters and the Club, helping improve fan relations and matchday experiences. As a fan for over twenty years, Carl says he is focused to continue developing the positive relationship between the Club and its supporters.
“'I started watching Boro just after we played Newcastle in the FA Cup in 1998. As there was a lot of media attention on the Club, I thought I would see what the fuss was about! The atmosphere and camaraderie on the JBT (East Terrace to our younger supporters) soon had me hooked”.
“When my son started attending with me, we temporarily transferred to the West Stand, and then we spent what I consider my best years of supporting Boro on the old North Terrace. That is where we met some now great friends, all of whom it is lovely to catch up with at matches”.
“For me, this community feel is what makes us continue to attend, through the good and not so good times!”
“Although I have similar experience in liaison work, albeit in a theatre environment, I have had to learn football aspects very quickly, including the restrictions and regulations that the Club have to abide by and the reasons why certain things are possible or not possible.
“The welcome and support from Alex Tunbridge and the staff at the Club has been great. I really want to focus on increasing positive engagement between the Club and fans, and I know that this is important to the Club as well as the supporters. I will always try to help to get answers or information for supporters, so if anyone has any queries or concerns, please email me at email@example.com or via Twitter @StevenageFC_SLO and I will do what I can!”
