Match Preview: Stevenage vs Harrogate Town

23 September 2022

Stevenage return to Sky Bet League Two action as Simon Weavers’ Harrogate Town come to The Lamex Stadium this Saturday…

Steve Evans’ men look to make it ten wins in ten at The Lamex Stadium as the side sit fourth in Sky Bet League Two. Last time out, Boro won 3-0 in the Papa John’s Trophy against League One Wycombe Wanderers through goals from Danny Rose and Terence Vancooten.

Harrogate Town are currently playing in their third campaign in the English Football League, after promotion from the National League in 2020. So far this season, The Sulphurites have won two games from nine, drawing two and losing five which sees them sitting in 18th place. The North Yorkshire side have scored six goals in the league so far, conceding eleven.

Harrogate boss Simon Weaver is the longest serving manager in the EFL having joined in 2009. At the time of his appointment, the club were in the National League North and had never reached the fifth tier of English football. That was until 2018 when Weaver guided them to the National League via the play-offs.

The Sulphurites have failed to win in their last five Sky Bet League Two outings, with their most recent victory coming away to Gillingham in August. Matty Daly and Alex Pattison contributed to a 2-0 win in Kent to get the side's only away win so far this season.

Despite there being just four past meetings between the sides, Boro are able to boast a strong record. Stevenage are yet to fall to defeat against Harrogate or even concede a goal. There have been two 0-0 draws away from home but Boro have a 100%-win record against The Sulphurites at The Lamex.

In January 2022, Jake Taylor, Jake Reeves and Luke Norris all found their names on the scoresheet as Boro won 3-0 against Harrogate in front of The Lamex Stadium crowd.
