Stevenage welcome Michael Skubala’s Lincoln City to the Lamex Stadium this Saturday for another big clash in Sky Bet League One…

Stevenage will be looking for their fifth straight win in all competitions this Saturday as they look to remain in and around the play-off places in their first season back in the third tier. Last weekend’s big 1-0 win away to Wycombe saw Boro climb to fifth in the table.

That was followed by a conclusion to our Bristol Street Motors Trophy campaign as we overcame Crystal Palace’s U21, scoring five past the young Eagles. Saturday’s game against Lincoln provides a tough test, as Michael Skubala will be hungry for victory in his first game in charge of the Imps.

The Opposition

Lincoln City find themselves ninth in League One after picking up six wins, five draws and five losses from their first 16 games. The Imps have failed to win in their last three league games and will be looking to turn fortunes around with their new boss in the dugout.

Michael Skuabala entered his first permanent role in senior management earlier this week as he was appointed Lincoln City head coach. He previously spent a year with Leeds United, firstly as the head coach of their U21s before taking charge of the first team in the Premier League on an interim basis. He was in charge for just three games, failing to win either of them.

His new side, Lincoln, do not have a standout goal scorer, but they are able to get goals from all areas of the pitch. 13 of their players have found themselves on the scoresheet in League One this season, with Hakeeb Adelakun netting three.

Head-to-Head

Stevenage and Lincoln have only ever met on seven occasions in the past, with the most recent meeting coming in February 2019. The Imps held onto a two-goal lead until very late on in the game before popular loanee, Ilias Chair, pulled two screamers out of the bag to earn his side a point on the road.

This Saturday, Stevenage will be looking for their first win against Lincoln in over a decade, as in 2011, Lawrie Wilson’s brace wrapped up a 2-1 victory at The Lamex Stadium.

Officials

Scott Simpson has been appointed Match Referee for Saturday’s match, with Leigh Crowhurst and Chris Wade as Assistants, and Marc Wilson as Fourth Official. Simpson has dished 67 yellow cards and five reds in thirteen games so far this season.
