Fourth-placed Boro meet fifth-placed Posh in a must-see League One clash at The Lamex Stadium…

The games are coming thick and fast for Stevenage as they prepare for one of the toughest challenges of the season so far. Saturday’s fixture was a statement of intent from Boro, as they overcame Fleetwood Town away from home by three goals to nil.

Stevenage have had a phenomenal start to the campaign since returning to the third tier, winning ten of their first nineteen league games as they sit just three points behind league leaders, Bolton Wanderers. Tonight’s clash may end up being crucial come the end of the season.

The Opposition

Peterborough have had a similarly impressive campaign, having won ten, drawn four and lost four of their first 18 League One games. Their recent form suggests tonight’s game will be incredibly tough, as the side have lost just one of their last twelve league matches.

On the weekend, The Posh enjoyed a dominant performance at home to Burton Albion as Joel Randall, Ephron Mason-Clark, Kwame Poku and an own goal completed a 4-0 victory. Mason-Clark is the club’s top scorer so far this season, netting eight goals and assisting four.

Darren Ferguson, the son of Sir Alex, is the current Peterborough manager and is enjoying his fourth managerial spell with the club. The 51-year-old Scotsman has guided the Posh to four promotions in the past and will undoubtedly be looking for the fifth this season.

Against their former club

Six current Boro players have previously spent time at Peterborough in some capacity and will be coming up against their former club tonight. Ben Thompson, Nathan Thompson and Dan Butler all signed from the Posh in the summer, with Nathan and Dan spending four years with the club.

Carl Piergianni and Harry Anderson both started their senior careers at Peterborough before making a name for themselves elsewhere, and Jordan Roberts spent a period of his youth days with tonight’s opponents.

The Officials

Sunny Singh Gill has been appointed as Match Referee for tonight’s game, with Daniel Cook and Shaun Farrer as his Assistants, and Ruebyn Ricardo as Fourth Official. Singh Gill has dished out 77 yellow cards and three reds this campaign.
