BELECK DEAL CONFIRMED

4 January 2013

Highly rated striker joins until the end of the season

Stevenage have completed a loan swoop for highly-rated Udinese striker Steve Beleck from Watford until the end of the season, where he is currently on a long-term loan.

At 6’2”, Beleck is a tall, strong striker and his natural pace and finishing ability has led to him being linked to some of the top clubs in Europe.

He played in the Greek Super League for Panthrakikos at 16, and after scoring 5 goals in 13 senior appearances for a side struggling in the division he was soon grabbing worldwide attention, with Serie A side Udinese completing a €1.5m transfer for the Cameroon U17 international in July 2010, staving off reported interest from Spurs.

Aged 18, he enjoyed a loan spell back in Greece with AEK Athens for the 2011/12 season and netted 6 times in 36 appearances, 7 of which came in the Europa League, before joining Championship side Watford on loan. He has found first team chances lacking with the Hornets’ impressive strike force in fine form and joins Boro to gain first team action.

The exciting 19-year old will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Crewe Alexandra, along with Sam Hoskins who also joined this week.
