SARLL'S EXETER VERDICT

24 September 2016

Stevenage boss, Darren Sarll left no question about his feelings following the 2-0 home defeat to Exeter.

The ten men Grecians scored twice after half-time to send Boro on their way to a second home loss of the season.

“It was as poor as I have seen us," Sarll said. "I am disappointed not just with the result, I am disappointed with the performance, disappointed in what we put on for the supporters today and I am disappointed in what they put on for me today – it will be addressed.

“To be energy-less in a performance for Stevenage is not good enough. It is not acceptable to play without energy, desire and enthusiasm. For them basic qualities that we can all bring every week, to not be in the team, is very disappointing.

“The manner of the performance from 3:01 to 4:45pm was no way near. The goals are just typical of the afternoons work – sloppy, lack of focus and very much a lack of desire and aggression. Any footballer can bring those things to the table.

“There is not a stand out or an exception to this afternoon’s performance in any way.”

It is a quick turnaround now as we go to Cheltenham on Tuesday night in search of a response to today’s defeat.

“We go again Tuesday and that will be very much a test against a very experienced coach with a team that has just won promotion that are again, below us.

“In the last two weeks we have played teams below us and we should be pushing on, keeping them down, while pushing our own hopes and aspirations up the table. We will address the inadequacies of today and move onto Cheltenham and try win the game.”
