Video & Quotes from the boss...

  • Sarll on the January Transfer Window...

“We cleared the decks little bit in December to make the necessary room, not just in terms of quantities and bodies, but obviously financially.

“And that gave us an opportunity to increase the squad, everyone can see we have been short all the way through December and January.

“The last couple of weeks have been quite desperate at times in terms of the players being able to get out on the training pitch and players available for the games on Saturday.

“They have had to be used too much and now we are seeing the fall-out in that they are picking up little strains and knocks.

“We are working with a limited amount of players, but we had to do that in December in order to create what we did yesterday.

“We took 8 points from 5 games, which is not bad. This time last year we were in a similar position and went on a terrific run and we need to attack every game with the same manner as we did last year.

“Whenever you get new players in the first couple of days are great, because it is like starting again in pre-season, you get a new dynamic and a new character.

“I am looking forward to working with them, I am looking forward to the next three months, we are 14th in the table, lets get ourselves in the top half and build from there."

  • Sarll talks through his new signings...

“Alex (Revell) and I know each other very well from Rotherham, just before he went on a fantastic journey in terms of his own player development quite late in his twenties.

“A really great character, really great lad. Very demanding, wants things done to a very high standard.

“The great thing is he knows my character and I know his, so the normal ‘get to know you stuff’ is thrown out the window, but he is a very good player.

“Dean (Bowditch) is again a player I have worked with. He was in his early twenties when he was at Brentford, he came on loan from Ipswich.

“As a footballer, he is wonderfully gifted technically. Similar to the technical qualities that Jobi McAnuff gave us with a right foot coming from the left or playing underneath a centre forward as a shadow striker.

“I know Johnny (Goddard) really well. I did lots of reports whilst at Stevenage when he was at Woking. So I watched him a hell of a lot for Woking and thought he was a really lovely player.

“We have to try and get the consistency that he had last year in League One where he played a lot of games for Swindon, we need to try add the goals he scored at Woking which was substantial for a wide midfielder.

“Joe (White) came over and played a reserves team game for Dagenham against us about 12-14 months ago and he was excellent, really excellent.

“He scored a couple of goals and we kept an eye on him from there and when we knew there was an opportunity to maybe jump in late, the Chairman agreed to finance that purchase and bring Joe to the club.

“He is a terrific player and I am very excited, what I saw this morning made me very excited to see where this young man can go.”

  • Sarll on Saturday's trip to Accrington...

“They are a good side, they are always a good side. Games are normally tight but we obviously got beat well at the end of last season.

“We have had some good performances up there at Accrington over the last couple of years, but John and Jimmy do a terrific job and they play a very unique way for League Two.

“We need to try and take another 8-12 points in February. We need to make sure we take those steps of winning and getting into the top half.

“So there are some big games coming up and we know that any kind of little run will get us in to where we want to be."
