Annual Remembrance fixture this Saturday vs Tranmere Rovers

2 November 2023

Saturday’s FA Cup First Round tie against Tranmere Rovers is the Club’s Annual Remembrance fixture…

To commemorate servicepeople's sacrifices in past and present conflicts, the two teams will be led out by representatives from the Stevenage branch of the Royal British Legion before holding a moment's silence upon the sounding of the Last Post.

Military personnel of the British Legion will be in attendance throughout the day to help raise money for the Poppy Appeal, while all Stevenage players will wear poppy armbands on their sleeve for the match.

Stevenage supporter and ex-serviceman Kevin Boyden will be laying the wreath on the centre circle on behalf of the Club before kick-off.

Starting at Woolwich with the Royal Artillery, Kevin served in Germany with the medics and Royal Engineers before touring Bosnia, Canada, Kenya and the USA. Kevin served for nine years before leaving as Lance Corporal.
