Speaking after his team’s 3-0 victory at Cheltenham Town, Steve Evans calls out for supporters and the town to get behind their team for the visit of Oxford United to The Lamex Stadium.
“It’s wonderful, isn’t it?”, said the Gaffer as he looked ahead to his Stevenage side entertaining Oxford on Saturday. “They are former League Cup winners, a former Division One side and they have just beaten second in the league Exeter City 3-0.
“With the new owners there, they have invested a huge amount of money and brought a good manager in. They will bring a big support so the away end will be full.
The Lamex Stadium is seeing its highest-ever average home attendance so far this season, including crowds of over 5,000 twice already this season.
“Come on, Stevenage fans!"
"We need a response like we had for Portsmouth at home, and we should have won that game. For Charlton, we should have won the game too.
“The one thing that stuck in my head was the atmosphere both times in the stadium. We will have that again for Oxford on Saturday.
“The Stevenage fans who travelled to Cheltenham were wonderful. I can see the ones who didn’t travel, listening to the commentary on the radio, having a buzz about themselves as they go out tonight.
