Excerpts from the Chairman's Programme notes...

  • On the state of play...

“The league table seems to be levelling off now with eight teams all within six points or less of a play-off spot, some of them with a game in hand. So, it couldn’t be tighter.

"Our opponents today have recently changed managers again and overall have had an inconsistent season so far. They will be looking to get back to winning ways and we will be looking to bag three points to put us closer to the pack challenging for the play-offs, so it should be an open and exciting game.

"If we can play with the resilience and determination to win the game as we did last Saturday, we must have a great chance of pushing on today.”

  • On the imminent North Stand work...

“The stadium works have at last got back underway! As you read this, UK Power should have successfully diverted live mains into the new substation we built for them and killed the live wires in the dig zone of the old substation.

"The plan is that groundworks begin again on Monday and by the next home game we should start to see some changes in the way the area looks.

"The steels should start to go up during March and by the end of the season we should begin to see a new stand starting to emerge at the North end. About time! The delay has cost us a lot of money in various ways and we need to address that shortly.”

  • On next month's Pay What You Want U15s game...

“A special date for your diary is Weds 6th March when our U15s play Southend here at The Lamex Stadium. I have agreed to let the young lads play here as they have done so well this year.

"There are so many lads in that team being tracked by the very best sides in the country so it is a compliment to our recruitment and training that, once again, we seem to be capable of producing players for our First Team and beyond.

"It wouldn’t surprise me if one or two of these lads got a chance to wear a First Team shirt before their 17th birthday so come along and check out the game. You can pay whatever you want on the turnstiles, all proceeds going to the Academy.”
